Our Story

We Take Pride in Our Products

As a family-owned business serving the greater Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, for more than 30 years, we care deeply about every job we produce at American Printing Unlimited.

It’s not just a matter of printer’s pride; we’re local. We live as well as work here, and we’re involved in our community. Our reputation, built conscientiously over three-plus decades, also rides on the quality of our work and your satisfaction with the finished product.

American Printing Unlimited draws customers from Easton, Bethlehem, Allentown, and surrounding communities in eastern Pennsylvania, as well as western New Jersey. We serve the general public and businesses, corporations and nonprofits, small, medium and large, from hotels and health clubs to event planners, landscapers, churches, athletic teams, associations and many more.

Whether your project involves printing menus, creating a full-color banner or restoring a precious photograph, American Printing Unlimited will handle your projects with great attention to detail. And if we can’t help you, we’ll engage a trusted partner who can.

our company history

Owner Fran Pinter got his first taste of the printing business in ninth grade at Bethlehem (Pa.) Vo-Tech, where he picked up the nickname “Pinter the Printer.”

In 1984, he and his parents, Robert and Nancy Pinter, purchased an existing business and its building, the Printing Place of Easton at 237 Northampton St. On his parents’ wedding anniversary, Sept. 11, 1984, they opened as American Printing Unlimited.

Over the years the expanding printing business outgrew its space. In 2001 the Pinters bought a nearby building and the company moved just a few doors down, to the corner of 2nd and Northampton streets. The new building – 2,000 square feet larger – houses operations all on one floor, and offers convenient, free, off-street parking for our customers.

In 2014, American Printing Unlimited received the Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Outstanding Small Business Award.

Since the mid-1980s, Fran has continued his involvement with Bethlehem Vo-Tech as an active member of the school’s Advisory Board, which helps keep course offerings relevant.

Philosophy

We’ve built American Printing Unlimited on personal service and quality work. If someone comes in with a rough idea, we can take it and run with it. When we know a customer’s goal, we can be much more helpful – in fact, many customers consider us a vital part of their marketing team.

Often, customers have an end-result in mind but don’t know how to get there. We’ll help with design, present ideas and options, offer cost-cutting suggestions, and provide a path for achieving your desired results efficiently and cost-effectively.

Some customers prefer to typeset their own jobs and design their own work; many can do this, but they can’t always finish it and make it print-ready. At American Printing Unlimited, we can use our resources to polish your project and achieve your goal.

We routinely fix minor mistakes (alignment, extra spaces, margins, color, shading, etc.) – we want our customers’ products to be correct, and they’ve come to expect that quality from us. Anytime we spot a “glitch,” we immediately contact the customer.

In a nutshell, at American Printing Unlimited we treat people with the respect they deserve. And if you need a service we don’t carry, we’ll recommend a trusted partner who can help.

The heart of American Printing Unlimited is our staff, with over 100 years of combined printing experience.

Working with owner Fran Pinter (40-plus years’ experience) are a press operator – a skilled craftsman with decades of experience in the industry; a graphic designer who also handles customer service; and an experienced design and pre-press craftsman with decades in the industry, who takes files from the computer screen to finished product.

Although in 2015 his father passed away, Fran’s mother is still involved in the business, helping with administrative tasks and making the occasional delivery.
